Concentrations and specializations in public health

There are many areas of specialization in public health due to its broad scope. Most colleges and universities that offer a degree or certificate in public health have concentrations students can choose to study. This applies to online MPH programs as well as on-campus programs. A concentration allows students to concentrate their studies in a particular area of public healthcare and gain the skills required for a career in this field. PublicHealthDegrees.org has compiled a list of the top public health specialties in the field that translate into public health program concentrations.

It is important to remember that universities and colleges can combine similar specialties into a single overarching concentration (ex. Community Health and Health Promotion). A school may use different names (ex. Industrial Hygiene rather than Occupational Health) for their concentrations.
